Timothy hay is a staple food for small animals whose diets rely largely on hay. This second-cut blend is made for daily feeding, with a fresh aroma and a varied texture that can encourage natural foraging. It is also useful for owners who want one hay that can serve as food for some small pets and bedding for others.

What is the texture of this second-cut Timothy hay?

It combines soft stems, leafy portions and some flower heads, with a texture between first and third cuttings. The mix provides rough fiber for normal wear on healthy teeth, while its fresh smell can make hay more appealing during the day. Its fiber, protein and fat content make it a source of everyday nourishment.

• Loose hay pieces provide material for pets to explore as they forage.
• Flower heads add another part to the mix of stems and leaves.
• Hay is intended to be available as a regular part of small pets’ diets.

How is the hay packed and handled?

Small Pet Select hand-packs the hay in small batches and uses a high-strength corrugated box instead of compression packing. This approach helps maintain the structure of the stems and leaves and minimizes dust. The box is also convenient for storage and gives pets space to dig through the hay.

• The hay is minimally handled and comes from US farms.
• Its natural fragrance can encourage pets to investigate and forage.
• Small Pet Select offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Which small pets can use this hay for food or bedding?

It is made as food for rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other small animals. Timothy hay can also be used as bedding for hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats and ferrets, making it useful for owners who need a cozy material for nesting as well as hay for feeding.

• Food use: rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and other small animals.
• Bedding use: hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, ferrets and more.
• The 12 lb box provides a supply for routine feeding or bedding use.

This hay suits small-pet owners looking for a US-grown Timothy blend for daily feeding, or a hay bedding option for small animals that nest. Its second-cut mix of stems, leaves and flower heads provides roughage and chewing material in a hand-packed, uncompressed box.
