How do I set the trap before placing it?

You can put the GopherHawk trap in the set position before inserting it into the ground, provided the hole is made wider. Stand the trap upright on a table and pull the black tube down until it locks. Never touch the straps or trigger. Gently place the trap in the hole without shoving or jamming it, then push soil around it to block light.

How do I clean the trigger or reset a trap that will not set?

To clean the trigger, unwind the spring until it is just past the yellow, then tug and twist the trigger under running water so water passes behind it and washes out dirt. Repeat if needed. If the trap will not set, strike the black tube firmly against a solid object a few times; do not use metal or cement, then try setting it again.
